Meridian Water moves into next phase with major works underway

Meridian Water, one of Enfield Council’s most ambitious regeneration projects, is entering an exciting, new phase with real progress already visible on the ground.

By the end of this year, the first portion of housing at Meridian Water will complete with 301 new homes ready to welcome residents with 273 being affordable, marking a major milestone in the transformation of the area.

Alongside this, major infrastructure works are moving swiftly, unlocking land for future development and laying the groundwork for thousands more homes and hundreds of thousands of square feet of commercial space.

From new roads and bridges to green parks, the Strategic Infrastructure Works now underway will open up over 30 acres of land, paving the way for more than 1,500 new homes and 400,000 sq ft of business space to be fast tracked from 2026. Construction is already underway on 274 homes, all of which are affordable.

The infrastructure improvements will also make connectivity and travel easier, complementing the already established Meridian Water railway station and new bus routes.

Meridian Water has delivered a raft of new projects and improvements including the award-winning Hoppa Park which includes skating facilities and play equipment; and the TCV Community Garden which was given a coveted Green Flag earlier this year in recognition for its exceptional work providing important opportunities for people to experience the physical and mental health benefits of green space.

At the Enfield Construction Skills Academy, more than 1,000 students have enrolled for courses since 2023 and similarly, thousands of jobs, apprenticeships and mentoring opportunities have been offered locally.

Cllr Ergin Erbil, Leader of Enfield Council, said: “Meridian Water is one of the most important regeneration projects in London, and we are determined to make sure it delivers for local people. With strong leadership in place and major works progressing, we are building the foundations for thousands more homes, new jobs and lasting opportunities for our borough and our working families.”

To support this next chapter, Jennifer Offord has been appointed as the new Head of Service for Meridian Water. She will lead the programme as it builds on the investment already made, ensuring the project continues to bring new homes, jobs and green spaces to Enfield.

The Meridian Water team will also be working to accelerate delivery, adapting to market conditions while keeping local priorities at the heart of the project.

Cllr Erbil added: “I want to reassure our residents that we will continue to shape the quality and type of development coming forward, including the number of affordable homes and the opportunities for jobs, training and community spaces.”
