Successful demolition to lead to new parks and public riverside

Old warehouses at Meridian Water formally known as The Drumsheds have been successfully demolished, paving the way for new infrastructure as part of £195 million of government funding.

Works were carried out by local Enfield contractor Greater London Demolition as part of the infrastructure improvements in the area and is one of the many ways Enfield Council is investing in the borough.

The infrastructure covers an extensive range of works including the naturalisation of Pymmes Brook, two new parks, bridges, footpaths, and cycle links to be delivered over the next few years.

This is the first step in delivering the £195 million works that are set to unlock the east side of Meridian Water to build thousands of homes and create thousands of jobs in Edmonton.

Numerous materials were reused including 15 gantry cranes, 1500 floor tiles, roller shutters, and security fences with many more listed on the Enfield Excess Materials Exchange website. 98% of the materials acquired from the demolition have been diverted from landfills.

Scrap materials have also been salvaged and used on set in a local film studio OMA X Enfield Studio. The materials have been rebuilt to replicate an explosion in an upcoming TV series.

Meridian Water is one of London’s largest regeneration programs you can find out more about the development by visiting the Meridian Water about page.
